Perth is currently in 2023 experiencing an extreme housing and rental shortage, by some reports the worst ever. Over 1,000 people a week are coming into WA to live and for years not enough houses or apartments have been built. There is an estimated shortfall of 20,000 homes and the Housing Industry Association estimates that to just keep up with demand we need to build 20,000 new homes a year, we are currently only building about 15,000 a year.
